For companies

Run your first study on task2k

Most teams ship their first study within an hour of signing up. Here's the playbook the task2k team uses internally.

1

Create your account + complete onboarding

Sign up at app.task2k.com/company/register. The 4-step onboarding asks for your company name, industry, team size, and what kind of research you plan to run. It auto-approves you — you can post your first study immediately.

2

Decide what you're trying to learn

Before opening the study builder, write a one-sentence research question. Examples:

  • "How easy is it for a new user to send their first ₦500 on our app?" → website test
  • "Which of these 4 logo concepts feels most like a Lagos brand?" → image preference
  • "Do our existing users understand what 'savings vault' means?" → survey

One clear question = one focused study. Stack different questions into separate studies — they're cheap.

3

Build the study

The builder is divided into three tabs.

  • Build — your test content. Add sections (questions / 5-second / image preference / website test / video interview / etc.). Add a welcome screen and a thank-you screen.
  • Recruit — who can take it. Demographic filters, optional screener questions, target number of testers, pay per tester.
  • Results — empty until responses come in. This is your analysis surface.

Tip: Keep tests under 20 minutes. Testers complete short studies at much higher rates than long ones, and you get cleaner data.

4

Set the right pay-per-tester

We auto-compute a minimum based on study content and audience filters — so testers always feel fairly paid. You'll see the breakdown live in the Recruit tab. Quick sanity:

  • Short surveys (5 questions, no recording, no targeting): ~₦1,500
  • 30-minute recording study, broad audience: ~₦6,000
  • Specialised audience (e.g. Lagos full-time freelancers): can reach ₦15,000+

You can always pay more than the minimum to recruit faster. Higher pay → studies fill in hours, not days.

The full pricing breakdown is on the pricing page.

5

Pay & publish

When you click Pay & Publish we send you to Paystack. Your card is charged once for the full study budget. The moment payment confirms, your study goes live and matching testers are notified.

  • Unused budget is refundable to your in-app token balance — usable for future studies
  • You can pause an active study any time (Recruit tab → Pause)
  • You can duplicate a study, edit it, and republish — useful for iterating
6

Watch results come in (live)

The Results tab updates every few seconds. You see:

  • Each tester's profile (name, state, demographic match) — no PII beyond what you need
  • Their written answers per question
  • Their screen recording with talk-aloud audio (auto-deletes 7 days after submission — download what you need)
  • A duration + completion timestamp

You can rate each tester 1–5 stars. Ratings flow back to their profile and influence which testers see your future studies first.

7

Approve or reject recording submissions

Survey responses auto-pay on submit. Recording studies require your approval within 72 hours — if you don't act, the platform auto-approves to keep the tester paid promptly.

You should reject if:

  • The tester didn't speak aloud throughout the recording
  • The recording is broken / blank / a different person
  • The tester clearly didn't follow the instructions

Avoid rejecting for "the feedback wasn't what I wanted" — that's the point of research. Pay them, then iterate.

8

Iterate fast

Most useful research is a sequence of small, cheap studies — not one giant one. After your first study completes:

  • Duplicate it, change one question, post it again to a different demographic
  • Take a surprising answer and turn it into a follow-up 5-question survey
  • Test a quick design change before you build it

Common questions

How quickly does a study fill?
With default pay and broad targeting, most studies fill within 4–8 hours of going live. Specialised audiences (e.g. Lagos fintech professionals) can take 1–3 days. Bumping pay-per-tester always speeds it up.
Are testers trustworthy?
Every tester completes a recorded qualification test reviewed by a human before they can access paid studies. We also run server-side duplicate-account detection (phone, bank, device signals). Bad-faith testers are quickly removed.
Can I bring my own testers?
Yes. In Recruit, set the audience to Bring your own and we generate a private link your testers use. They don't need a task2k account. You're not charged the platform fee on those responses.
What if I need testers outside Nigeria?
Right now task2k is Nigeria-only — that's the moat. If you need other African markets, drop us a line at hello@task2k.com.
Can I get raw data out?
Yes. Every study exports as CSV / JSON. Individual recordings download as WebM. Survey data is also queryable via our API if you want to pipe it into Looker / Sheets.
What happens to recordings long-term?
Recordings auto-delete from our storage 7 days after submission. Download anything you need within that window. We do this both to protect tester privacy and to keep our infra cheap (which keeps your pricing low).
What's your refund policy?
Paid balances are non-refundable once a study goes live. Unused balances on cancelled studies sit in your in-app token balance and roll forward for 12 months.
